Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come (Ephesians 1:21, KJV)

The Father has lifted Jesus and set Him at His right hand far above all principality, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named. Did you notice the last part? It says every name that is named! Coronavirus is a name we have given to that deadly viral infection and Jesus has been lifted up above every name. What does this practically mean to you? How does an infection fit into the picture presented above?

What comes to your mind when you read principality, power, might, domination, etc? You think of angelic beings, right? In the spiritual realm, power is not limited to living entities or beings only. A classic example to use here is death. Death is not a demon. It is a spiritual power and dominion. Satan understands it and is using it for his advantage. Even death, a non-personal power, bows down before Jesus.

There is a spiritual power that rules in diseases. It does not mean there is a demon called disease. It means disease is a power that dominates. We have made remarkable advances in medicine to control diseases but in many cases, diseases still rule over man. An example at hand is the coronavirus. The world is in panic because we do not have control over it. Once we have some control such as an effective treatment or vaccine, etc, the fear will taper off. However, the truth is that disease is a power, a dominion that rules. And at the Name of Jesus, every power, dominion or name that named has to bow!

You are royalty in Christ, and God has called you to reign. God made you a king to rule over impersonal powers such as disease and death, and demons. The kingdom is for such a time as this, when there is a power, a deadly power that is seeking to rule over us, which we have to subdue through the Name of Jesus! Take authority, and do not allow the fear that is ruling the world to rule over you. At the Name of Jesus, every knee must bow, including the dominion of deadly diseases.

MEDITATE

Did you under the personal and impersonal forms of power and dominion as described above? What else can you think of that is not a being or person but has power?

APPLY THE WORD

When situations like this arise, your faith in Christ should be your advantage in life. I wrote a devotional a few days ago about the Name of Jesus and I believe you understood that word. Well, it is time to put it to work. Take authority over the fear and anxiety and begin declaring the Word of God over your life. Use the Name of Jesus. He did not give you His Name to use in heaven. There is no fear or disease in heaven. He gave you the Name to use here on earth to deal with situations such as disease, fear, anxiety, panic, etc. Rule in the midst of your enemies( death, disease, sin, Satan, etc) by the Name of Jesus!

PRAY

Ask the Father for a fresh revelation of the Name of Jesus and for the grace to put it to work and subdue deadly plagues that come nigh the door of your house.
