Thou Shalt Call His Name JESUS

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matt. 1:21 KJV)

The Name JESUS was given to His parents before He was born. While Joseph was in deep thought about the strange news he just received regarding his fiancee, the angel of the Lord appears to him in a dream. The angel confirmed what Mary told him and gave Joseph the instructions regarding the child that was to be born.

The name Jesus is derived from the Greek rendering of the Hebrew Yeshua or Joshua which means “Jehovah is salvation.” This meaning is given in the verse above by the angel who said the baby should be called Jesus because “ He shall save His people from their sins.” Jesus is Jehovah in the flesh saving His people. His Name is intricately related to the reason He was born.

The salvation He brings is not limited to the freedom from sins, but from everything that has kept humanity in bondage through the entrance of sin. When the Name Jesus is invoked, chains must fall off the hands of humans.  That is the reason he came. His dream is for humanity to be completely free.  His vision is to see you completely set free from every bondage and to serve God without fear (Lk. 1:74 KJV). Every time you remember or proclaim the Name Jesus, know that you are declaring that Jehovah is your salvation from every form of captivity.

The Saviour of humanity is here!

MEDITATE

Is the salvation brought by Jesus limited to forgiveness of sins?

APPLY THE WORD

You can rely on your Saviour. Before sin came, there was no death, disease, poverty, fear, anxieties, worries, depressions, demonic oppression, etc. These are bondages that have plagued humanity since the Fall. The Name Jesus means  Jehovah has shown up to deliver you from every form of bondage! Stretch your faith and take hold of the salvation the Lord has brought to you.

PRAY

Bless the Lord at this time for His wonderful salvation brought to us by the coming of His Son.
