Casting out the fear of coronavirus

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18, KJV)

John gives us an astonishing revelation about fear and how to be free from it. He says “perfect love casteth out fear”. Let me break this down for you to digest it fully.

First, he uses the phrase “casteth out”. What do you cast out? Evil spirits, right? Why use this word with respect to fear? Paul gives us the answer in 2 Tim. 1:7 : “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear” (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV). Fear is a spirit! I have explained this concept fully before in our prior devotionals and even live Bible studies. Fear as spirit does not mean it is a demon or some angel called “fear”. Fear is an emotion, and there is a spiritual influence or power that animates it. That power or disposition in the soul is the spirit behind fear. As spirit, it comes as no surprise that it should be easily accessible by spiritual entities and evil spirits.

John tells us that perfect love casts out fear. In other words, if you dwell in the love of God and become perfected or “matured” in it, that love, which is also a spirit from 2 Tim 1:7 will cast or drive out fear! How do you become perfected in the love of God? Well, John tells us two verses before: “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us” (1 John 4:16, KJV). Knowing the love of God for you fully and believing it completely makes you perfected in the love of God. The truth, a bitter one, is that many of us do not know and let alone truly believe in God’s love. As we  come to a full knowledge and acceptance of God’s love for us, we suddenly realize the majestic power that governs the entire universe is my Father and the fear of getting hurt like a homeless child is thrown out of the door.

While men’s hearts are failing them for fear of the things happening on the earth( Jesus said this would happen), I want you not to give coronavirus the power of your mind to cause you to fear. Intentionally set your mind on the love of God. Think upon it, gather all scriptures above His love and brood over them, speak them out, think and speak them out until your heart is overwhelmed with the love of God! Once you get perfected in love, and you have come to know and accept and be persuaded about it fully, it will cast out fear!

MEDITATE

What is God’s method to deliver us from fear as described above?

APPLY THE WORD

Replace the fear of the coronavirus with the thoughts of the love of God. I mean it. You have to do it. You cannot pray for God to do it. You have to intentionally set your mind to purposefully think about God’s love and focus on it until it overwhelms you and cast out every fear of the coronavirus!

PRAY

Please open your mouth and just tell Him “ Abba, Father, thank you for  loving me so dearly”.

  1. This is super good. Filled with truth and also lets us know that that virus is not greater than the love of GOD that we have to mature in. People can place fear in others by what they think and say. God does not give the spirit of fear but He gives power and love and a sound mind. With anything we need to keep our hands clean. Just wisdom to not catch colds from others.
The Word of GOD is true. Fear is not of GOD. We must stand against it with the word until the scriptures are strong in us and we are walking maturely in the love of GOD. Generating LOVE naturally should be our goal. It has to be a daily motivation and practice. I love this. I am encouraged.
    God Bless, Linda
