The Wisest Thing You Can Do
Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment (Proverbs 4:7 NLT)
What comes to your mind when you consider the wisest thing you ever did? For some, the wisest action was a financial decision that brought thousands of dollars; for others, it was the choice of that suitable marriage partner. But though we could think of many other examples, Solomon presents a surprise for us in Proverbs 4:7. He declares the wisest thing you can do is to get wisdom! We will briefly examine this astonishing insight from the wise king of Israel.
Wisdom begins with getting wisdom. Since wisdom is, therefore, an obtainable virtue, we can either have or lack this virtue. Solomon teaches us that recognizing the importance of wisdom and taking steps to get it is the wisest thing someone can do. Why? Once that person gains wisdom, that wisdom will govern and direct them to long life, beauty, power, health, and riches. Therefore, wise people keep their eyes on wisdom, but fools keep theirs on riches, etc. (Proverbs 17:24).
Wisdom is obtained by acquiring knowledge. Getting wisdom this way is true for both divine wisdom and general wisdom in everyday life. For example, I went to Medical School and studied medicine; I got the knowledge to practice as a medical doctor. Similarly, the difference between the rich and the poor today is not physical strength. Instead, this distinction is wisdom—the wealthy know and practice things the poor generally do not.
Therefore get wisdom, because it is the principal thing. In all your getting, get understanding! ( Proverbs 4:7).

Please stand in front of the mirror of Prov.4:7 and ask yourself this question: “am I doing the wisest thing that wise people do?”
Knowledge is the language of the body, soul, and spirit; therefore, wisdom rules the universe. Develop an attitude of desiring to increase your knowledge of the things that concern you. Of prime importance here is the knowledge of God, but it also applies to the general areas in life, such as your health, finances, relationships, etc.
Ask the Lord to give you wisdom and make your heart desire wisdom in the first place.
