He that winneth souls is wise

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.  (Proverbs 11:30 KJV)

Solomon spoke the words above in his days when soul winning certainly did not have the same meaning as it does to us today. He spoke by the Spirit things which transcended his days. It will be a fascinating journey to find out what Solomon had in mind when he said,’he that wins or captures souls is wise’. Let me focus on its application to us today, which is what the Spirit was communicating through the lips of Solomon.

The person who wins souls is wise. Soul winning today, as we know it, refers to the act of preaching the Gospel to the unsaved so they can hear it, believe and become saved from the wrath of God and the lake of fire that is coming. It is rescuing people from the eternal fires of hell. The Lord says it is a very wise thing to do. One of the major traits of wisdom is its ability to foresee danger and protect yourself from it.  Solomon said, “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished” (Proverbs 22:3 KJV). The lost world certainly is not fully aware of what lies ahead for sinners.

Wise people, that is you and me today, who know the Gospel, pull sinners out of the danger through the Gospel.

What happens in heaven when one sinner repents? ( Luke 15:7). Why do you think this is so?

Man’s greatest need is the Gospel to be saved from sin, Satan and divine judgement. Wise people make heaven rejoice by pulling sinners out of hell and protecting them from the imminent danger many of them know nothing about. When was the last time heaven rejoiced because you pulled a sinner out of the pit? What would you do about this?
