Toiling without Success

And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net (Lk. 5:5 KJV)

We have Toiled All Night showing fishing boats

Jesus used Simon Peter’s fishing boat to teach the people, and after his sermon, He commanded Peter to throw his net into the water for a catch. Peter had been in the fishing business for a while, and here comes this new Teacher in town giving him instructions on fishing. First, the professional fishermen had toiled all night without any success. It was one of their “bad days”. Secondly, the mornings are not ideal to catch fishes, and the worst part of it is that you don’t usually fish so close to the shores for any major catch. The circumstances did not support the instruction Jesus had given. But Simon chose to obey and made this clear to Jesus!

The  Word  Jesus gave to Peter did not consider the natural circumstances before it produced its results. Peter had toiled all night without any catch. It was not an assumption but a reality. If he had gone again to fish without the Word, he would have caught nothing. When the Word went out, the miracle took place., the natural was altered. Creation was changed to fulfill that Word.

Does Peter’s experience of toiling without results sound familiar to us today? Some are currently sweating without results in their spiritual lives, families, businesses, finances etc. His Word comes to alter the natural circumstances. His Word is the blessing. It causes creation to produce “abnormal” results, that is, supernatural results. The same Word spoken to Peter has also released over your life, that the Lord has blessed all the works of your hands!

What was Peter’s response to the instruction of Jesus? What else could Peter have done?

The Word put to work changes natural circumstances. Jesus did not give that instruction because He could tell that the tides have changed and the fishes have come to the shore! When the Word is spoken, creation responds in obedience to align with it! Take the Word and change your world!

Ask the Father to help you put His Word to work in your life.
