The Beauty of Holiness
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness (1 Chr. 16:29 KJV).
The culture around us wants us to believe that the words “beauty” and “holiness” do not belong together; however, holiness is beautiful, not ugly.
In Ezekiel 28:12-14, Lucifer is described as “perfect in beauty”, and abided in the “holy mountain of the Lord”, before his rebellion against God. The same Lucifer, now Satan, wants us to believe that any beautiful thing belongs in his messy, ugly system, rather than in holy places.
Who said a very beautiful girl cannot be holy in character and body? Satan said so, not God. The Lord says there is beauty in holiness. It is so disheartening to see talented children grow up in the Church, but later turn to the world. They think “that is where beautiful and good things belong”, but they end up in the same sin, mess, and emptiness of the world. Sin is dirty and empty. Addiction is ugly and messy. The empty fleeting pleasures of the world, with the emptiness and depression that follow, are ugly, not beautiful.
We must not allow the world to condition how we think. The Church has been brainwashed by the world to some degree, but we are quickly recovering. The wealthy and talented can also be godly and holy. The beautiful and handsome can also be holy in body and character. Beauty truly belongs to holiness.
MEDITATE
Can you be wealthy and attractive, and still be holy and godly? Think of King David.
APPLY THE WORD
You do not need to leave God, and go to the world, to enjoy yourself. Every step into the world goes downhill. Every step from the world into the Body of Christ is a step towards joy, holiness, and real beauty.
PRAY
Ask the Lord to help you recognize the thinking of the world so you are not snared by the system.
