When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory (Colossians 3:4 KJV)
What a word from the Lord through Paul the Apostle. He says Christ is our life. Please pause for a moment and digest what this means. He means precisely what he says here, that Christ is your life. The ramifications of this clause are significant. Life is not just something that Christ gives. He is that life. If you have Christ, you have life!
Please note He did not say Christ is your spiritual or eternal life. He stated Christ is the life that you have. Man is a complex of spirit and flesh in one. Our life comes from our spirit, and that life powers our hearts and is biological life in our bodies. Please note that the life of your body, that is, biological life, is a product from the life that you have in your spirit. It is not a distinct life in itself. When God made Adam and breathed into his body the spirit, his body started pulsating with biological life implying the life of his bod came from his spirit.
With this in mind, think of the ramifications of the verse above. The life you have in your human spirit that powers your body and inner life is God’s very life and that life is Christ Himself. When Christ came into your heart at salvation, that was eternal life coming into your heart. Christ in you is eternal life in you!
Can you think of a scripture in the Gospel of John where Jesus Himself said He is life? What are some of the implications of Christ being your life while you are living here and now?
