The Most Powerful Truth About Healing
Surely he hath borne our griefs, And carried our sorrows: Yet we did esteem him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflictedā¦.And with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4ā5 KJV)
The scriptures abound with insights, truths, and revelations on various facets of divine healing. Yet if you want to be healed or minister to others, there is no truth as powerful as Isaiah 53:4-5.
As a physician, my curiosity is through the roof regarding divine healing. Growing up in a charismatic circle and studying the Bible personally, I am acquainted with the teachings of the scriptures about healing. I am naturally fascinated to learn how divine healing works and why some Christians get healed, and others do not. And I will tell you that there is no greater revelation in the scriptures regarding healing for us today in Christ than this: Jesus took our sickness, and therefore by His stripes, we are healed.
Lately, I was disappointedāyes, that is what honestly happenedāwith one of my trusted and respected Bible commentaries. The commentators stated that Isaiah 53:4-5 has nothing to do with healing our diseases but was exclusively talking about Jesusās payment for our sins. I could readily tell the commentators did not believe in divine healing today(or any miracles), so this verse had to fit into that theology. Yet Matt. 8:16-17 clearly states that Jesusās healing of the sick fulfills this passage. So this text applies to our sins and diseases in the appropriate context.
There are two powerful truths categories in Isa 53:4-5 for healing. First, Jesus took our sicknesses. Second, by His stripes, we are healed.
Let your heart be wet with the revelation of these truths.
Meditate
Is it acceptable, especially in light of Matthew 8:16-17 to argue that Isaiah 53:4-5 is exclusively about sins and has nothing to do with a physical healing?
Apply the Word
If you need healing or want to catch a profound understanding of healing, read and meditate on Isaiah 53 many times( I mean many) until it overflows from your heart like an overflowing cup.
Pray
Ask the Spirit to help you believe this report and have a revelation of the arm of the Lord for divine healing( Isa 53:1).
