But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24, KJV)
When most of us talk of the anointing, the power of God is almost always what we are referring to. Yes, the anointing is the palpable power of God but there is more. The scripture above explicitly defines the two operational arms of the anointing to us. It says “ Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” Christ, the Anointed One, is the power and the wisdom of God. The anointing is both the power and the wisdom of God operating in our lives.
The wisdom of God has not been very popular amongst believers, especially charismatics. Part of the reason is that power often has dramatic and instantaneous effects. However, the wisdom of God is as essential as the power of God, if not more. God’s wisdom operates jointly with His power and we have to learn to recognize that the anointing works in our lives in both of these arms. Let me give you an excellent example of the anointing operating in wisdom.
In Exo. 31:2, God anointed a man called Bezaleel. He did not perform miracles as Moses did. However, he was filled with wisdom to design everything in the Tabernacle God commanded Moses to build. In a similar way, Paul was not only given power for miracles but wisdom to build the Church. It takes wisdom to build and design( Prov. 23:4). Did you know that it took great wisdom for God to create the earth, not just power? ( Prov. 3:19). When many of us think of creation, we almost always talk of God’s mighty power. Yet, few have realized the tremendous depth of wisdom that was deplored in creation.
Allow the fullness of the anointing to operate in your life. There are many ministries that are being destroyed not because of a lack of power but a lack of wisdom. The same is true of our lives. You might be surprised to learn that many of our problems are not due to a lack of power but a lack of wisdom. Ever met a man filled with power who continues to make mistake after mistake in his family, ministry, relationships, etc? What if the wisdom of God starts operating in your life to handle those crises in your family, business, place of work, etc?
Learn to allow the Spirit to operate in your life not only in power but in divine wisdom.
How many miracles did Solomon perform? Was he anointed? What about Elijah? Did he write any books to explain spiritual things to us? Was he also anointed? Can you see the two arms of the anointing in these two men who were mightily used of God?
APPLY THE WORD
Christ, the Anointed One, is in you. That means the wisdom and power of God reside in you. The anointing is when the wisdom and power in you become operational or palpable in your life and can be felt by those around you. Be conscious of the fact that God is not only interested in working miracles through you by His power. He also wants to work wonderfully through you in wisdom just as through Solomon or Bezaleel above.
Ask the Lord to help you grow in the anointing that is upon your life.
