Behold, Now is the Accepted Time

For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (2 Corinthians 6:2, KJV)

Have you ever eagerly awaited something good? When that time comes and that dream arrives, words often fail to capture the joy. God has good news for us: the “accepted time” or “day of salvation” has arrived. Let’s explore this.

The English term “accepted” doesn’t fully capture the weight of this term. The Hebrew and Greek words provide clarity. In this passage, Paul quotes Isaiah 49:8, where the Hebrew term means “time of favor.” Imagine being invited by the president on a day he has decided to show extravagant favor to everyone he meets!

The accepted time, or the time of favor, is not a specific date but a season of God’s dealings with humanity. The scripture highlights two of the many characteristics of this time. First, the Lord says, “I have heard thee in a time accepted.” Jesus expressed this as, “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24, KJV)

In the acceptable time, day, or year of the Lord, He hears prayer. However, God does not hear the prayer of just anyone.

We are living in a blessed time!

Second, in the time of favor, God helps us. Hebrews 4:16 explains this: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, KJV)

In the acceptable year of the Lord, sins are forgiven, sinners become sons, diseases are healed, demons are cast out, joy is lavished, provisions are granted, power is released, and more.

The accepted time is a period of favor and blessing for humanity with God. The prophets longed to know about this glorious time, but God told them it was reserved for us (1 Peter 1:10-12). The Psalmist fittingly describes the blessings of the acceptable year: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: The Lord will give grace and glory: No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11, KJV)

So, here is the word of the Lord for you: now is the accepted time or the time of God’s favor in your life. It’s not yesterday or something in the future. God says you are living right now in days when He withholds no good thing and has lavished grace and glory upon you!

Meditate

Say 2 Corinthians 6:2 under your breath, thinking about each word. Reflect on the words as you repeat them.

Apply the Word

Being a child of God today proves you are already enjoying the time of favor! The same grace that saved you can change your health, finances, and relationships. Remember, God chose to make this a time of favor—not us. Your job is to enjoy His favor and eternal life until it overflows!

Pray

Thank the Lord for the tremendous blessings of allowing us to partake of His accepted time.
