Hearing God's Voice is for Every Child of God

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. (Jn. 10:27 NKJ)

Hearing God’s voice is crucial for every believer.Jesus said, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that God speaks ( Matt 4:4.) Man is created, sustained, and enabled to thrive by the voice, or Word, of God. Hearing God’s voice is not an option. It is your lifeline for a flourishing spiritual life. We flourish when we hear His voice, and wither without it.

Jesus made a tantalizing statement. “My sheep hear My voice . . . ” That establishes the truth that every child of God hears the voice of God. Jesus did not say, “My sheep can hear My voice,” but “My sheep hear My voice.”

There is tremendous confusion and perplexity regarding hearing God’s voice. Part of this perplexity arises from our mistaken expectation of what the voice of God should be and from misunderstanding how God speaks to us – especially today. When we hear the word “voice,” we think of the audible human voice and that subtlety permeates our expectations. We often think the voice of God should come to us as an audible human voice.

However, the child of God today has God living inside of them. God speaks from WITHIN you, into your spirit. When God speaks to your spirit man, it is your mind in your soul that understands.

Your mind has to interpret what God has spoken into your spirit. It might come as a voice similar to the voice of your own conscience. It might come as a thought, a feeling, or a desire, or even as a picture in your imagination.

You see, every believer is hearing God’s voice every day. They just do not RECOGNIZE Him. You can grow in this. Train yourself to discern God’s voice when He speaks to you.
