Your advantage in life as a child of God
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you (John 16:7 ESV)
We have an advantage in life as children of God. This edge in life is primarily spiritual but extends to material issues of everyday life here on earth. Jesus told the disciples as above that the coming of the Spirit is better for them than His physical presence with them. Think about it: Jesus Himself says you should have the Holy Spirit than to have Him by your side to solve all your problems!
I have discussed foundational principles from the Word for spiritual and material prosperity for our new year series. I have repeatedly emphasized the centrality of power and wisdom in the affairs of life. The Holy Spirit in you as a child of God is both the wisdom and the power of God.
We have to go beyond the common thinking of equating the Holy Spirit with gifts of the Spirit such as miracles or speaking in tongues. Yes, the gifts are from Him, but there is more! He is a Person, God Himself, in us to lead us in every single aspect of life. I still believe as the body of Christ, we are yet to know the full implications of what it means to have the Spirit of God. I am looking forward to that day when the Spirit’s wisdom and power will be fully seen in our businesses, finances, health, marriages, ministry, etc. That will be glory on earth! Press into this. Crave for an intimate fellowship with the Spirit.

Why did Jesus say the coming of the Spirit is better for the apostles than His physical presence with them?
APPLY THE WORD
Desire to grow in your fellowship with the Spirit this year. Imagine what your life will be when the way you think, feel, speak, act, etc., is led and powered by the Spirit! Ever thought you could be a failure in life, ministry, relationships, etc.? Just wait until the Spirit has His way in your life and see what happens to you!
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help you grow in your intimacy with Him this year.
