Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness (Hebrews 3:7–8 KJV)
The Lord instructs us not to harden our hearts when we hear His voice. This instruction is the same as the command to open up our hearts to Him. This year is a year of preparation of our hearts here at Deshen Daily. It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of our hearts.
A hardened heart is a heart that is resistant to the Word of God. God’s Word functions as rain or water. When God speaks to us, His Word produces results similar to the results of natural rain when it falls on a piece of farmland. However, if that piece of land is full of stones and rocks, the rain does not penetrate the soil and does not affect the ground.
We are all hearing God’s voice today. We listen to it as we read the Bible. We listen to it from our pastor or ministers at Church. In fact, we are hearing it now as we read this piece of devotional writing because it is an exposition of the Word of God. The Word is everywhere. Wisdom is crying out and calling men wherever She can find them! ( Prov. 1:20-23).
Do not allow your heart to become hardened by lack of understanding, unbelief, or disobedience. If you hear His voice, respond to His call and do not harden your heart.

What is a hardened heart? How do we hear God’s voice today?
Apply the Word
Someone might be reading this devotional, yet they are not saved. God’s voice is calling you to accept Jesus and be saved. Others might be hearing the voice of God commanding you to repent from that sinful lifestyle. Still, others are hearing the voice of God telling them not to fear or be anxious. Whatever you are hearing from God, please ensure you do not harden your heart.
Pray
Ask the Father to keep you from hardening your heart against Him.Â
