The Gift Of Wealth
But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matt. 6:33 NET)
Wealth, a gift? Yes, it is! The scripture above says, “. . . all these things will be given to you.” What things? The preceding verses teach us that He was referring to money or material things.
The Church has wrestled with the notion that God can give wealth to His children, and with the thought that it is God’s will and pleasure to see His children prosper financially. It is a similar to the case with the healing of our bodies.
I have wondered what happened to us that we believe God takes delight in seeing us suffer. It is easier for a believer to believe that poverty or disease is sent from God to do some mysterious plan in their lives, than to believe He wants to see them joyful and enjoying eternal life.
There was no poverty in Eden. Jesus did not amass wealth on the earth but He was never in lack. He was a display of divine providence at work. He showed us God’s will with regard to our earthly needs.
Wealth is God’s gift to every one of His children and it is enjoyed by those who live by the Word on the earth. It is your birthright as a child of God, but you will enjoy that wealth in proportion to His Word working in your life. In fact, wealth is a gift of God reserved for His children that grow to maturity.
Do we need God to prosper on the earth? No. People can have abundance without God, but the wealth that comes from God is different. It is wealth that does not come with sorrow but is full of enjoyment, peace, and rest. Open your heart to receive God’s Word today.
