The Best Bible Translation Available Today
You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. (2 Corinthians 3:2, ESV)
Debates over the best English Bible translation continue, despite the availability of over 500 versions. We are grateful for the scholars who have dedicated their lives to translating the Bible into our language. Yet, the most powerful translation of God’s Word isn’t found in any book—it’s you.
Bible translation involves rendering the original Hebrew and Greek text into a language people can understand. However, humans best understand the language of a living example, something perceivable with physical senses. This is why Jesus, as a man, is the perfect translation of God’s revelation. Similarly, the believer living out the Bible’s message of love, wisdom, power, victory, and more is the best translation, although accurate literal translations are essential!
In 2 Corinthians 3:2, Paul emphasizes this idea, stating that the Corinthians’ transformed lives serve as his letter of recommendation. Their lives, touched by God’s grace, became living expressions of the love and transforming power of the Gospel.
As a believer in Christ, you are God’s letter to the world. Your life is a living translation of the Bible’s message, inviting your family, friends, and neighbors to read it. Although written translations may struggle to convey God’s love fully, your actions and attitude can powerfully communicate the essence of His Word.
The Lord wants you to translate His love, wisdom, and power for the world around you to see. Embrace your role as God’s best Bible translation, and let your light shine!
Meditate
What is the “ink” God uses to write His letter in your life, His living translation (See 2 Corinthians 3:3)?
Apply the Word
Aim to embody the Word in your daily life. Practice love, patience, and gratitude. Avoid complaining and resist temptation. Pray without ceasing, and tread over serpents and scorpions. Let your actions bring the Bible’s message to life.
Pray
Express gratitude to the Lord for the honor of being a living translation of His Word. Ask Him to help you reflect the message of the Scripture in your life.
