Still Singing “Baby Jesus”?
Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords (1 Tim. 6:15 KJV)
The imagery of Jesus as a baby born in a manger hardly leaves the minds of some people. When they here “Jesus,” they imagine a “baby in a crib.” Well, He was born a Baby, but He is not anymore. He is King of kings and Lord of lords!
This mindset is more practical than many of us realize. It is quite tempting how we sometimes relate with God as though He is a baby, without a will, who needs to be taken care of and is expected to run our errands when He grows up a little bit. This is our typical mindset when we come to the faith, just as kids do. We believe our parents exists for us, and the whole world seems to revolve around our needs. Then we grow up to be adults to realize that the world does not revolve around us. Babies in the faith want God to serve their needs, while the mature in the faith seek to do His will and please Him.
The greatest thing that will determine the degree of glory we will experience HERE AND NOW or unnecessary suffering we will endure is our surrender to His will. The more we hold on to our will, the more prolonged is the longevity of our sufferings in the flesh. We need to replace the manger in our minds with a throne. He is not baby Jesus that is dependent on us to care for Him. He is Lord of lords and commands our complete surrender to His will for our own good.
MEDITATE
Why is it hard for us to give up our will to do God’s will?
APPLY THE WORD
I often say that no man or woman in their right senses will surrender to God and His will. It takes the Spirit of God to do so. Surrender has to come to you as a revelation from God otherwise it will be a frightening and detestable message to you. Are you ready to remove the baby crib in your heart where Jesus is still sleeping peacefully as a baby and replace it with a throne where the Lord and Master of all is sitting? This will be the best thing you can ever do in your entire life! It will not take life from you, but instead will lavish life in abundance for you to enjoy until it overflows!
PRAY
Ask the Lord to tenderize your heart and make it more willing than ever to yield entirely to do His will in your life.
