Well, this is what the Lord has put in my heart to tell you today: that is, it shall be well with you! He commanded Isaiah to speak to His people and say to the righteous, that it shall be well with them. He goes further to explain the reason why things are looking good for the righteous: they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
Isaiah speaks of the righteous and their doings in this text. He has two things in mind which are applicable for us in Christ today. First, it represents those who are right with God in Christ, which today refers to those who have believed and received God’s gift of righteousness. Secondly, He mentions their doings. This clearly refers to those who are living right and doing what God wants them to do or living the way He wants them to live. God Himself says it is well with such people. The reason He reassures us that it is well with the righteous is because righteous living will often not look like a good idea. In fact, those who live right might have more troubles! But the Lord says that it is well with you. Things are looking good for you. Contrary to what the world might make us believe, things are not looking good for the sinner and those who live in sin.
Have you ever suffered because you did what was right in God’s eyes?
APPLY THE WORD
The road of righteousness is narrow while the path of sin is broad and full of deceitful pleasures; and “fun” is the reason why it is the more popular of the two. Keep walking on the path of righteousness because it is well with those who stay on it.
Ask the Father to help you not to stray off the path of righteousness.
