Open Your Mouth Wide and I Will Fill It • Deshen Daily

I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it (Ps. 81:10 KJV)

Opening our mouths wide symbolizes our eagerness to receive God’s blessings, reflecting our daily spiritual hunger. This eagerness spans various aspects of our lives, such as the dreams and desires in our hearts, faith, and asking in prayer.

Opening our mouths means enlarging our capacity to accept God’s blessings. Think of an infant eating. When infants see a spoonful of food, they instinctively open their mouths wider. In the same way, the Lord commands us to “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes” (Isaiah 54:2 KJV).

Your mouth represents your readiness to receive. It starts with the dreams and desires the Lord places in our hearts. As the Psalmist says, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; And he shall grant thee the desires of thine heart.” (Psalm 37:4, KJV)

God initiates His mighty work in us by inspiring dreams. He is saying: dream big. Along with these grand desires, we open our mouths wide, believing that God can make what our hearts envisioned come true. Receiving a dream from God is one step; trusting that He will fulfill it is another.

Another way we open our mouths is by asking God. Paul puts it this way in the New Testament: “Now unto him that can do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20, KJV)

God promises to go beyond all you can ask or think. No matter how wide you open your mouth to think big for God or ask Him, He will surpass all limits.

So, open your mouth wide and let God fill it.
