What Did Manna Really Represent?
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven (John 6:32 KJV)
God fed the Israelites with Manna, a supernatural food, for forty years. The Jews believed that Manna was bread from heaven, just as the scriptures say; besides, they cherished that conviction. Yet Jesus smashed that cherished belief by telling them—to their dismay and outrage—that Manna was not the true bread from heaven. He then proceeded to explain what He meant by “true bread” from heaven.
When Jesus spoke of true bread(Manna), He implied there was another Manna that is not true. A recent Deshen Daily devotional explained the meaning of the term true as it applies to true worship. The exact meaning applies here: true Manna is the real Manna instead of the shadow manna in the Old Testament. So, though Manna was indeed a supernatural provision from heaven, the physical bread was only a shadow of the real thing. So what then is this real thing?
After first establishing a new truth that there was such a thing as true Manna, Jesus went further to explain to the Jews what this true Manna was:
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world (John 6:33 KJV)
The true Manna is not a thing, but a Person, God the Word, who came down from heaven to give life to human beings. The Israelites ate Manna in the desert and died, but those who eat the true Manna receive God’s life and live forever!

What is the similarity between Manna in the Old Testament and Jesus?
You ate the true Manna the day you believed Jesus as Savior and received eternal life. Today, you continue to eat Manna(similar to deshen) as you receive the Word, believe it, and increase your experience and manifestation of the divine life. Behold, Manna is here—eat, eat, and eat to the full so that any dead thing in your spiritual life, health, finances, relationships, etc., would come alive!
Thank the Lord for the true Manna we have today.
