Joy and Peace on Earth
“And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased’” (Lk. 2:13-14 NAS).
On the day Jesus was born, an angel appeared to a group of shepherds in the field to tell them of the good news. The scripture above notes that the angels themselves were filled with joy at the event and declared that peace had been brought on earth.
The birth of Christ was the advent of joy and peace on earth. Despite the sophistication of human inventions, few things have escaped our grip as true joy and peace have. Money, fame, success, and other vanities have proven across the centuries to be incapable of providing true joy and peace. Joy and peace are heavenly treasures. The Savior came to die for our sins that we should be saved and free, because it is impossible to experience joy and peace in sin. Christmas is a reminder to you that God has sent joy and peace to the earth with the coming of the Savior.
