For what did God call you?
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints” (Eph. 1:18 KJV).
Some believers have still not fully understood the ultimate reason why God has called them into Christ. What does God want to do with your life? It is much more than escaping hell and reaching heaven. There is something better for you, starting here on earth and continuing in all eternity thereafter.
The Apostle Paul prayed earnestly in the scripture above for the Lord to open the eyes of the Ephesian believers to the hope of His calling. This implies that understanding the hope of God’s calling is an important issue to God. 1 Peter 5:10 (KJV) says “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus.” The hope of God’s calling is the glory of God. God’s ultimate purpose is to live within you and fully express Himself through you as you. He has called you to the fullness of His glory, living constantly in His presence and becoming the very expression of His excellencies and virtues! There is so much in store for you in Christ, here and hereafter!
MEDITATE
What does God need to do for us to know the hope of His calling? Look at Eph. 1:18 again carefully.
APPLY THE WORD
If God has called you, it means you are living for a purpose right now on earth. No matter what you are facing today, take a moment say to yourself, “I have been called into the glory of God” and let hope spring forth within you. Do not let anything cause you to be beaten down!
PRAY
Take a moment and pray out the words of the prayer above for your life. Ask that you will come to full knowledge of the wonders of what is yours in Christ.
