Wisdom, Power, and Success • Deshen Daily

She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. (Proverbs 3:15–16 KJV)

Could there be a secret to our ultimate well-being, success, and progress here on earth? This is God’s simple answer: there is a hidden treasure for human welfare on earth, and that secret is wisdom.

When I began exploring the Bible’s teachings about money, I pondered why so many verses (such as Proverbs 3:15-16) connected wisdom—not power —with honor and wealth. To ensure we don’t become too spiritualized, let me illustrate this point with a contemporary example:

For the first time in six thousand years, science has transformed our world and improved human well-being on earth within less than a century — surpassing all accomplishments made by powerful emperors, mighty generals, men of great strength, etc. For instance, when we learned about antibiotics in 1928, we began ruling over infectious diseases—knowledge is power.

If scientific wisdom has transformed our material world and life, what would divine wisdom do for us? What would happen if we knew what God thinks about money, health, ministry, etc., and followed His ways carefully? Divine wisdom is knowing God’s ways and applying them to life’s circumstances.

The root of all our problems is a lack of wisdom. When we look at every instance of suffering, failure, and disaster since Adam and Eve, we can trace it back to people disregarding God’s Word to them.

Get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding.

Apply the Word

If we would know God’s ways and follow them, we will have victory over any circumstance of life. Crave divine wisdom this year and apply it to your health, finances, family, ministry, spiritual life, etc.
