What is your spiritual life or walk?
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20 KJV)
What do we call our spiritual life? It is a simple question but with profound practical implications. Man is spirit, soul and body. Often, we think of our spiritual life as our spirit’s activities or done with our spirit outside or not involving those of our soul( emotions, thoughts, will) or body. That is, we assume though our emotions, for example, might be out of order, our spiritual life(walk) might still be healthy. This is a profound error in our perception of our nature and spiritual life.
Your spiritual life, or walk in God in brief, is not an out of body experience, in the mysterious realms of the spirit. Your walk with God or spiritual life is IN the activities of your soul(mind, emotions, will) and the body. The term “flesh” in its non-sinful usage simply means the earthly part of humanity, which is body and soul. Your spiritual life is lived in the flesh, and not out of the flesh.
Please take a look at the verse above. It says we now live in the flesh by faith. Your walk with God is in the manner or way of ordering your emotions, thoughts, desires words and actions. Your spiritual life is expressed IN these dimensions, that is, in the flesh. As a christian, you have experienced the new birth, which at the moment is in the spirit only. When Jesus returns, a brand new body will be given to us to align with our brand new spirit. However, at the moment, our spiritual life or walk with God is IN the choices we are making with our emotions, thoughts, desires, words, and actions. The health of your spiritual life is not in some mysterious unknown spirit realm but in your day to day life in the realms of the flesh.
God wants us to walk in the Spirit here in the flesh, in allowing the Spirit control your emotions, thoughts, desires, decisions, words and actions.
MEDITATE
Please take a moment to think over what you have just read. You do not need to go to heaven or for some prophet to tell you whether you are spiritually healthy or not. Your spiritual life is expressed in your daily activities here on earth which you are fully aware of.
