Samuel did not yet know the LORD

Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him (1 Samuel 3:7 KJV)

Samuel did not yet know the Lord showing a man holding a child

Hannah brought Samuel to live permanently in the Temple with Eli, the High Priest. He grew up in the house of God, helping Eli and serving in the Temple. The LORD knew Him even before he was born. Samuel’s mother was a woman of faith and prayer, and his birth was by itself a miracle. He was growing up innocently in the Temple and did not know about the divine destiny upon his life.

He continued serving in the Temple faithfully, innocently, and without knowing the God he was serving. The verse above says, “Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.” Knowing the Lord in this sense includes but goes beyond mental awareness. It means Samuel did not yet have a personal relationship with Him, did not know His ways, and was not walking with Him.

However, Samuel was an Israelite and, therefore by birth, was in a convenient relationship with the Lord. He did not know the Lord because he was still a child and had not yet been exposed to a personal relationship with Him. Sadly, many believers today find themselves in this same place as the little Samuel. They are saved and heading to heaven, no question about it!  But like little  Samuel, they do not know the Lord. The most urgent call of the Spirit to the Church today is for us to grow to spiritual maturity, that is, to full-blown sons knowing the ways of Father and walking in the glory of His Word and Spirit!

MEDITATE

What is the meaning of knowing the Lord as used in the verse above?

APPLY THE WORD

The Spirit is speaking to His people worldwide that there is a wave of glory coming. As I said before, this is not going to be your typical revival. It will be a wave of mature children of God, who know the Father, are fully surrendered to the Holy  Spirit, filled with the wisdom of the Word and living in on earth as Jesus did—the visible manifestation of the Father, that is glory!!. Get plugged in.

PRAY

Ask the Spirit to reveal the Son of the Living God to you as you seek to know Him.
