And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2, KJV)
Paul gives us the secret to enjoying the new life in Christ here and now: be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Christian transformation is a reality.
The word “transformed” carries the idea of metamorphosis, that astonishing and mysterious process by which a butterfly, for example, gradually changes its OUTWARD appearance from an egg, to a larva, pupa and then a butterfly that can fly. Despite the different stages of its development, its nature remains the same. It has always been a butterfly in its nature and DNA. The outward appearance is a visible display of its current stage of life. If you meet a butterfly as a larva, you will probably not like it very much. It is rough, destructive, and hardly has anything that is beautiful. However, it you give it time to develop, it will slowly change to a pupa that spends all of its time sleeping and then a beautiful butterfly!
Your Christian life is like the metamorphosis of a butterfly. There is a gradual change that takes place in us, with an outward(soulish) transformation from one degree of beauty to another. This is what the scripture means when it says the path of the righteous is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day! (Prov. 4:18). The OUTWARD part of you or the outward man is your soul and body, including your thoughts, emotions, desires, actions and words. This is the part of us that is being transformed by the new life in our spirit.
For example, in your spirit, there is no anxiety. However, in your soul, you may be like the larva of the butterfly that is very rough and agitated, always moving, anxious and restless. God says you are a butterfly but when you look at your emotions, you are as worried as a larva, restless and afraid inside of you. The Lord says you should move on in the path of metamorphosis and enjoy the beautiful life of the butterfly. Some of you are currently broke outwardly, but you are a billionaire in your inside. You only need to be transformed. Others reading this are already healed and have healing power inside of them but they are struggling with all sorts of mental and physical problems. The Lord days move on, be transformed and enjoy your good life in Christ.
The cornerstone of lasting Christian transformation is given to us in Col. 3:15:
“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him” (Colossians 3:10, KJV)
The new man is renewed or transformed in knowledge of the One who created Him.The knowledge of Christ, the Son of God is your ticket to Christian transformation and maturity. In other words, as you keep looking at Christ( meaning growing in your knowledge of Him), you are gradually transformed to be the image you are beholding( 2 Cor. 3:18). I cannot over emphasis this. Knowing Jesus deeply is the one reason you read the Bible. Do not waste your time with empty words or things that merely excite your mind. If you want to see and demonstrate the glory of God here and now, keep your eyes on Jesus. As you keep looking at Him, the way you think will begin to change. You will start having His thoughts and emotions. Suddenly, fear and anxiety fall off your heart. That addiction you thought had power over you suddenly becomes like paper being burned in the fire of God’s presence. Suddenly you also realize there is power in your hands, and you can put them on someone, and they receive healing. Or maybe you never thought you were anointed until you start speaking to demons and you see them flee. Beloved in Christ, grow in your intimate knowledge of the Master. Be transformed as you behold the Lord always!
Please read Rom. 12:2 above again: think and ponder upon it.
