How to see the spirit
And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons (Genesis 3:7, KJV)
Vision in the spirit realm is mandatory for a successful spiritual walk. Two fundamental principles underlie operating in the supernatural: vision or seeing and ability. I have discussed these before in prior devotionals and Live Bible Studies. Let me share on how to see the spirit.
First, as I mentioned in our last devotional, it is fundamental we clearly understand the difference between spirit and the physical world. One key distiction is that spirits do not have physical form. The spirit world does not have shape, weight, color, etc. These are natural, physical characteristics of the physical universe. So the first principle to keep in mind is that you do not see the spirit world with your physical eyes. However, as I have taught previously, God is able to grant our physical eyes the ability to see visions of the spiritual world in physical form.
The spirit world is seen by knowing. Knowledge is the vision of the spirit world. In Gen. 3:7, it is said that the eyes of Adam and Eve were opened and they knew. These were not physical eyes but rather spiritual eyes. When these eyes opened, they started seeing, that is, they “knew”. The spirit realm is seen by knowing. This is not mere intellectual knowledge. It is experiential. They experienced nakedness and shame.
God can bring that spiritual knowledge to us in many ways. He could use dreams and visions through imagery we are familiar with. However, the main thing He is transmitting to us is spiritual knowledge about something or His purposes. The dream or vision is not what He wants to bring to you. It is the spiritual knowledge that the dream and vision brings. He can also bring that knowledge to you, that is, make you see the spirit by revelation. Paul knew the the Son of God intimately not by some dreams and visions of Him but by the mystery of revelation which is impartation of spiritual knowledge. We have to see!
Spiritual blindness is a catastrophe. You cannot walk in victory spiritually if you are spiritually blind. You need your eyes to open. For example, there are some of you reading this and you are oppressed by evil spirits. The day you see that you are in charge in the spirit realm, that will be the day you will begin to enjoy your freedom. Maybe you are depressed but the day you see the joy in you, depression will take the back door. Let me leave you with this passage:
“And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight” (Luke 24:30–31, KJV).
The resurrected Jesus broke bread and gave it to His disciples. As soon as they ate the bread, their eyes opened and they recognized Him! Bread opens the eyes! His Word is the lamp and the light that opens our eyes to see. Would you allow the Spirit to break bread and give you to open your eyes?
MEDITATE
What kind of eyes is Gen. 3:7 above referring to? Was Adam and Eve physically blind? Is it possible, from this verse, to be physically seeing but spiritually blind?
APPLY THE WORD
Learn to see the spirit. Learn to see God! Cry out to God to open your eyes to see wondrous things out of the Word through revelation or prophetic visions!
PRAY
Ask the Father to open the eyes of your understanding that you will know the Son of God and the glory God has called you into.
quite enjoyed the message
Amen, praise the Lord!
