Finding God’s Will for Your Life in the Scriptures
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple (Ps. 119:130 KJV)
God’s will is not a mysterious agenda, hidden in heaven so that men will struggle to know it. He wants you to know His will for your life, not just in spiritual things but critical natural things such as your marriage partner or career. How do I know God’s will for my life?
The Bible is a sure place to find God’s will for your life! Some of you might immediately ask “how do I know my marriage partner by reading the Bible?”. You will certainly not find a scripture that says “Joe is your husband” or “God has called you to be a pastor or an engineer.” So how does the Bible reveal God’s will for specific things in our lives?
The scripture above says the entrance of His words give light, and understanding to the simple. When the Word of God enters your heart, it brings light to your understanding. As more of it comes in, more light shines. You begin to discern from within and know what God wants for you. You start knowing from within that Joe is not the man for you, or God wants you to engage in this carrier path and not that. This is called spiritual discernment. The Lord can use another believer such as a prophet to confirm it so that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word is established!
The will of God for your life is in the scriptures. Let His Word shine the light and dispel confusion in your life.
MEDITATE
Does God want you to know His will? Declare that “the entrance of His Word is bringing light into every dark area of confusion in my life. I am a child of the light, and I walk in the light and not in darkness”.
APPLY THE WORD
You build discernment through the word, prayer( especially speaking in tongues) or through the gift of discernment. There is no reason for confusion anymore in your life. Use God’s light given to you.
PRAY
Ask the Lord to help you cultivate discernment in your life.
