Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular (1 Corinthians 12:27 KJV)
The Lord describes the Church using two words in a mystery — Bride and Body. In Ephesians 5: 32, Paul explains the husband-wife relationship and says the mystery is profound!
Let me pinpoint one aspect of the mystery of the Body of Christ in this devotional. Paul says above that we (His people) are the Body of Christ and specifically members of His body. He uses the analogy of a human body to describe the people of God. Your physical body allows you to exist and function on earth. It is the visible part of you. Your body has different parts or members that carry out various functions.
The Body of Christ is indeed the body of Christ. It is that which gives Christ visible existence here on earth and allows Him to function. The different parts of His body are the separate believers. Every physical body needs a spirit to be alive and to operate. The Body of Christ is the Church, and the Spirit of that Body is the Holy Spirit. The head of this Body is the Man Jesus, who is in heaven. So one member of the Body is in heaven, and the rest are on earth today!
You are the body of Christ, and as a member of that body, you allow Christ to exist and function on earth just as your physical body does!

Who is the Head of this Body? What does it mean that you are a member or one part of that Body?
Apply the Word
The mystery of the Body of Christ is mind-blowing. The world does not need to see the man Jesus, the Jewish Rabbi, appear to them. They have you and me. We are the continuation of the life and work of Christ. May the Lord bring us fully to the realities of this revelation!
Thank the Father for the blessing of partaking in the life of the Son.
