When the Blessing Makes Someone Take Over the Economy!
And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household (2 Sam. 6:11 KJV)
The blessing of God made a man called Obededom to shake the economy of Israel. He became so wealthy within three months that David had to take emergency action to bring the situation under control! What happened?
When David first attempted to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, Uzzah was killed in the process because he touched the Ark which was not allowed. David was so afraid of bringing the Ark to Jerusalem that he decided to drop it off in the house of a man called Obededom, a Gittite. Obededom was just a regular guy, trying to make ends meet in his family. However, something happened to him after the Ark was brought into his home.
The next two verses say “And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household. And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness” (2 Sam. 6:11-12 KJV).
The Ark of the covenant, a symbol of God’s presence brought the blessing that changed Obededom’s life forever. His wealth grew so quickly within three months that David had to intervene otherwise he would have taken over the economy!! That Presence came into you in its fullness as a believer when you received Christ. You are blessed, now put it to work!
MEDITATE
Why do you think Obededom was blessed within three months while Abinadab who first kept the Ark for 20 years was not blessed as much? ( I Sam. 7:1-2).
APPLY THE WORD
Obededom was blessed within 3 three months while Abinadab had the Ark for about 20 years and nothing happened to him. This is what is happening to us today. Some believers experience the blessing while others do not yet we all have the Presence and the Blessing. You must learn to walk with God. Having the blessing is not enough. Walking with God and putting it to work is the key!
PRAY
Ask the Lord to help you make His Word your daily lifestyle to take full advantage of the blessing ( Ja. 1:25)
This is quite rewarding and eye- opening. Thank you Dr. Oben, and may the Lord increase His grace and annointing on you in Jesus’ name.
