Four ways God will visit you
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people (Luke 7:16 KJV)
God is a person who can visit us, just like the people we know. However, unlike people, God is spirit and visits us in different ways. Divine visitations are practical, experiential encounters with God’s presence and/or His power, with a definite purpose of fellowship, deliverance, revelation, etc. This article briefly discusses four ways God visits us—and you can desire and pray for them.
First, God visits us through special divine appearances, including prophetic dreams and visions. It might be through a human form (like He visited Abraham), special manifestations of His presence such as fire in the burning bush when He appeared to Moses, or the pillar of cloud and fire to Israel, or through prophetic dreams and visions like Daniel and Apostle John.
Second, God can visit us through somebody, a person He uses. For example, in Luke 7:16, when the Jews saw the miracles Jesus performed, they said God had sent a great prophet and thus visited His people. Again, God visited the Jews in bondage in Egypt by sending Moses to them.
Third, God as the Word can visit us through a revelation of His Word. Jesus, the Word made flesh, was God visiting the earth. Furthermore, He sent His Word and delivered the Israelites (Psalm 107:20).
Fourth, God can visit us through a special experiential encounter of His presence and power in our hearts and lives without any outward visible manifestations. For example, God can visit us, and all we experience is an enormous outpouring of His love in our hearts or an instant deliverance from some bondage in our character.
Desire divine visitations.
Meditate
When was the last time God visited you? Now that you know the options—I hope you do not fail to discern His visitation!
Apply the Word
Ask the Father to visit you and learn to discern the different ways He might choose to visit you.
Pray
Ask the Lord to help you not to miss a visitation because it came in a way you were not expecting.
