The Foundation of God
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19, KJV).
We pay attention to the foundation of a house for a reason. The future of the house is tied to the quality of the foundation. In scriptures, the Lord uses the figure of a house to describe our lives as buildings but also His church. Your Christian life is a building laid upon the foundation of God, which is Christ.
The scripture above clearly states God’s foundation is sure to hold against every situation in life. As a Christian, you can be sure you are not on shaky grounds when you put your faith in Christ. Faith is risking your very life on the credibility of God and if He is an unshakable and solid foundation then your life is in safe hands.
It is not a waste to serve God the way you do. The times you spend meditating on the Word, seeking Him in prayer, attending church, not giving in to the pleasures of the world because you want to live a holy and righteous life are not wasted. You are on a sure foundation. The tragedy of the world is that they are building houses on faulty foundations. Their buildings might appear so beautiful outside but without a firm foundation, a horrible crash can happen at any time. Your foundation in Christ is sure. Rest and be confident in it. You are built on a solid rock.
MEDITATE
How do we establish ourselves on the solid foundation of Christ? (Luke 6:47-48).
APPLY THE WORD
Your spiritual life is not futile and baseless. You are well-planted as you allow the Word of God to guide your life. There is no need to envy those who are in the world. You have the “real thing”!
PRAY
Thank the Lord for laying the right foundation for your life. Pray that He will grant you the grace to establish your life firmly upon it.
