The Effectual Fervent Prayer that Produces Results
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:16, KJV)
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man is powerful. When we pray, things happen. Prayer can command changes. The Amplified Bible really amplifies the meaning of this sentence and makes it easier to understand. It says “the earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” (James 5:16, AMP).
Prayer makes tremendous power available. The Bible, therefore, gives us an activity that is connected to power. Every minister who operates in power will testify to the reality of this scripture. There is a direct correlation between the power that is dynamic in its working in your life and your prayer life. It is one thing to know and confess that the Holy Spirit, the power of God, is already inside of you. It is a different matter altogether, although related, to experience that power or see it at work through you to touch the lives of those who are around you.
Prayer produces results. Again, this is one of those aspects of our faith that many of us struggle with the dissociation between our experience and truth. Many will tell you they “have prayed and nothing happened”, and they are sincere about it. Yet the scripture says prayer will make power available that is dynamic in its working and able to command changes. Choose the truth of the Word rather than your experience. If others have experienced this power through power, it means you too can. If you are not, be humble and patient to seek the Lord to know where you are missing it.
The prayer of the righteous is powerful!
MEDITATE
Can you think of an example in scripture where prayer activated power? ( Acts. 4:31)
APPLY THE WORD
I have said it repeatedly, few things in your life will be under attack in this our generation like your prayer life. Do not let the world kill your prayer life but kindle it to flames by the power of the Holy Spirit!
PRAY
Ask the Lord for a fresh spirit of prayer upon you.
