Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel  (Ezekiel 3:1, KJV)

The Lord met Ezekiel in a prophetic vision and showed him a hand stretched out to him holding a book. He heard the Lord then commanding him to take the book from the hand and eat it up. Remember that this is a prophetic vision, and the Lord is using symbolic language to communicate profound spiritual truth to the prophet. What then is the meaning of the prophetic vision in which Ezekiel took the scroll and ate it?

The Lord explains Himself in the same chapter and further expounds on the vision.  Ezekiel 3:10 says   “Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart and hear with thine ears”. Eating the book means receiving the words of God in the heart. As a prophet, he was given the book to eat before going to speak to the Israelites. He was commanded first to receive the words of God and then prophesy to the nation.

You must have noticed the emphasis I put on “feeding on the Word” in our ministry.  You should now understand what God is talking about when says we should sit at His Table and feast on delicious food. When a man or woman receives the Word in the heart, that Word as a seed grows to produce fruits. That fruit might be healing, deliverance, prosperity, etc. If only believers understood what the Word of God is, many would not read their Bibles once a week “when they have some spare time” but will feed on it voraciously like a hungry lion. 

Feed on the Word. It will produce results in your soul, body, and world.

MEDITATE

What is the food that the heart feeds on according to Jeremiah 3:15?  Is there any relationship between your financial prosperity or peace in your home and the Word of God?

APPLY THE WORD

Moses saw God’s Word as their life. The Israelites saw His Word as laws and commandments to live by. You see, perspective is everything.  There is a reason why some of you would even give up a daily routine to feed on the Word because of what you know about its impact on your life. Sadly, others will give up the Word to do other things or even watch their favorite TV show, etc. If I can get you to understand that God’s Word is your life, then I will never need to encourage you to feed on the Word. You will go after it as a hungry lion jumps upon its prey! May the Lord help us see what He sees in His Word!

PRAY

Ask the Lord to put a hunger in your heart as newborn babies.
