I am a child of God for real!

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (Rom. 8:16 NAS)

No assumptions, “I am a child of God for real!”. We are children of God because God reproduced Himself( beget us) when we got born again. His nature is in us. As children bear the nature of their parents, so God’s children bear His nature. You look like God in your spirit man! The scripture above says the Spirit of God is bearing witness with our own spirits, that we are the children of God. In essence, what this means is that the Spirit of God looks at us inside, and then says to us “wow, you really look like God!”

It is not a spiritual cliché that we are children of God. God does not adopt His children by signing some “legal papers” as we do here on earth. He adopts His children by imparting His nature into them. He gives us the Spirit of His Son Jesus Christ. “And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” (Gal. 4:6 NAS). There is something inside of you that cries out to God, “my Father!”. This is the new man, the spirit man, inside of you that has been created by God. As God’s child, carrying His nature, you are entitled to His life. He is never depressed, oppressed, fearful, sick, broke, defeated, etc. That is the same nature inside of you. Creation is waiting for you to be made known. You are wired for success from start to finish. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God!

Meditate-I am a child of God

Let these words occupy your mind and mouth. Ponder, mutter, and ruminate on them until they are engraved in your heart.

Pray

Ask the Spirit to the Lord to open your eyes, again and again, to really see who you really are. What is it that the Spirit sees in you that makes Him “nod His head” and say “you are really like God?”, or that you are “wonderfully made in the image of your Father”? Ask the Lord that you too will be able to see these same things.

Act on the Word

“I am a child of God” should be pasted on the identity board in your heart. You should not doubt it for a moment. As a child of God, one of the privileges is that your Father has responsibilities! Choose to be a child today and let Him be the Father He is. It is His responsibility to defend you from ferocious attacks. It is His responsibility to provide for your needs. It is His responsibility to give you all you need for a glorious life on earth. There is no need for both of you to be awake at night because of some trouble. You sleep and rest in trust as a child while He takes up His responsibilities as a Father!
