Give Thanks Always

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph. 5:20 KJV)

give thanks

The Lord commands us to give thanks always for all things unto God the Father. This truth and the principle it conveys will change your life if you will commit yourself to doing what the Word says. Cultivate a thankful spirit and change your life forever!

Giving thanks “for all things” does not mean thanking God for what Satan is doing. 1 Thes. 5:8 gives us the meaning by using the terms “in every thing give thanks.” The Lord wants you to learn to be thankful in whatever state you find yourself. Not everything that comes our way is from God, but we can learn to see God as with us in every circumstance and working for us in every situation and we can give thanks to Him.

An ungrateful or complaining spirit will ruin spiritual victory in your life. As a believer, the moment you start complaining about a situation, your spirit is overwhelmed and will not produce any results. The command to be thankful does not instruct us to wait until things work the way we want them to and then be thankful.

Your ability to not complain or become ungrateful when circumstances do not go your way is one of the pearls that mark Christian maturity in your life. Spiritual babies continue to complain about what is happening and sink deeper into despair over their situation.

The spiritually mature, who have learned to know how God works, are able to break through and give thanks always, activate divine power, and live in miracles daily!

MEDITATE

What does it mean to be thankful? Ponder upon this. Declare that “I am giving thanks always for all things in my life.”

APPLY THE WORD

You will have a reason to complain about something today at your job, home, school, or in whatever situation you will find yourself. When that “opportunity comes” to complain, instead choose the Word and give thanks to God for where He has you.

PRAY

Thank the Lord right now for the gift of Christ Jesus, His Word, and His Spirit. Give thanks to Him for your family, your job, your health, your church, etc.
