Get Out of Here, Satan! • Deshen Daily

“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him, “for the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.’” (Matt. 4:10 NLT.)

Get out of here, Satan and never return!

Satan came to tempt Jesus after a forty-day fast, telling Him to bow down and worship him. In return, Satan promises to give Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. Jesus said, “get out of here, Satan!” By speaking, Jesus used the sword of the Spirit to smite a deadly blow on Satan—who then departed from Jesus. God’s spoken words are the sword that devours and destroys every adversary.

Jesus responded appropriately and defeated Satan. We may ask “what about us, today? Satan came to Jesus and is still coming to us today in different ways. Jesus smote him with the sharp sword of His mouth to win this victory, and we obtain spiritual victory in the same way. The Word of God in the mouth of a child of God, spoken by the Spirit, is Satan’s nightmare. This principle is not only important but pivotal to your victory on earth.

We face at least two major obstacles to using the sword of the Spirit. First, Satan does not often come to us as Satan or devils. He usually comes in the normal affairs of life, not some personal Satan or demonic spirit. This means we should not expect to see Satan before speaking to him. This leads to the second problem: we will be speaking to natural things while addressing a spiritual being. For instance, Jesus spoke to Peter but He was addressing Satan, and not Peter( Matt 16:23). This is odd, yet one of the most important spiritual warfare principles if you will fully grasp it.

In summary, do not keep your mouth shut; there are some problems in your life that will not go away until you address Satan and tell him to get out of here.

What weapon of spiritual warfare did Jesus put to work when Satan attacked Him above? See 2 Thes. 2:8 and Eph. 6:17.

Apply the Word

Learn to speak forth God’s words. Prophesy! If things do not make sense in any area of your life, look for a room by yourself, take your Bible, open your mouth, and tell Satan to get out of there!
