“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him, “for the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.’” (Matt. 4:10 NLT.)
Satan came to tempt Jesus after a forty-day fast, telling Him to bow down and worship him in order to get all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. Jesus’s response was quick and sharp: “Get out of here, Satan!” Do you know what that represents? Jesus used the sword of the Spirit to smite a deadly blow on Satan, and Satan went away. Jesus’ Word is the sword that will devour and destroy every adversary.
That was Jesus. What about you, here and now? Satan came to Jesus, and is still coming to the saints today in different ways. Jesus smote him with the sharp sword of His mouth to win this victory, and we will win in the same way. The Word of God in the mouth of a child of God, spoken by the Spirit, is Satan’s nightmare. This principle is not only important, but pivotal to your victory on earth.
Learn to speak to circumstances. That is how you release the sword. One of our greatest weaknesses in fighting against the devil is failure to recognize him when he is at work. This is discernment – learning to know if what is happening is purely natural or if there is a spiritual power at work. Satan is devouring people’s lives, families, finances, health, relationships, etc., and they think it is just natural. Wake up, church—start telling Satan to get out of here!
Do you see the weapon God uses to destroy Satan? See 2 Thes. 2:8.
Apply the Word
Learn to talk. Learn to talk! If things do not make sense in any area of your life, look for a room by yourself, take your Bible, open your mouth, and tell Satan to get out of there!
Thank the Lord for giving you a tool to defeat darkness in your life.
