Be filled with the Word of God

They are filled with food from your house, and you allow them to drink from the river of your delicacies (Psalms 36:8 NET).

God made man’s body a vessel for containing a spirit. Our lives are therefore like containers that can be filled with God, as a cup is filled with water. As believers, the Lord wants us to be full of God.

God fills our lives with His Word. The scripture above teaches us a profound truth about being satiated by the Word. It says, “They are filled with food from your house.” They eat until they are full! The food in this text is the Word of God. Whenever the Word enters our hearts, we have just eaten of the delicious food of heaven! As the Lord commands, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16 NET). God fills your stomach (the spirit man) with His Word! Feed on the Word until it saturates you, and you will see God’s presence begin to overflow in your life.

MEDITATE

Meditation is the KEY to becoming filled with the Word. Meditation is feeding. You meditate as you ponder and mutter the Word so that the Spirit can feed you. To what degree is your heart filled with the Word of God?

PRAY

Thank the Lord for the gift of His Word, His blessing to humanity. Ask the Spirit to feed your spirit as you search the scriptures with this precious meal from heaven.

ACT ON THE WORD!

If you are feeling empty in your life, take inventory of how much of God’s Word is dwelling in your heart. Challenge yourself; continually fill your heart (not just your head) with the Word, and see what becomes of your life! You can start today—do not just read the Word, but get it into your heart. Be filled with the Word by the Holy Spirit!
