He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1, KJV)
Psalms 91 was written for days, such as the times we have living in right now with the coronavirus. It is a Psalm of divine protection of His people when the earth is shaken by plagues and calamities. The Psalmist uses an interesting figure of a mother bird that covers her babies under her wings. The Psalmist goes further to describe for us in more details in the 3rd and 4th verses:
“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, And from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, And under his wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” (Psalm 91:3–4, KJV)
The coronavirus is an example of a noisome or deadly pestilence. The Lord will surely deliver you from the deadly pestilence, cover thee with His fathers and under His wings you will trust. Interestingly, the last part of these section tells us how God does this, and how we abide under the shadow of the Almighty: “His truth shall be there shield and buckler”. His Word and His promise to you, such as the words you are reading right now is the shield that covers and protects you. Abide under the shadow of the Almighty as you rest in the promises in His Word.
What is the literal(normal) meaning of “dwelling” or “abiding” somewhere? (Think about your home!). How is it used figuratively in Ps 91:1 above to apply to you?
APPLY THE WORD
You may be living in your nation or neighborhood now, but spiritually, you are living in a different spiritual environment. Let the consciousness of that environment fill your mind. That environment is Christ. He is your dwelling place and in that place, coronavirus loses its power and influence!
Thank the Lord for preparing a dwelling place for you in Christ to protect you from any noisome or deadly pestilence.
