What does it Mean to Live in the Glory of God
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4, KJV)
The Apostle Peter wrote the astonishing words above through the Spirit of the Lord. We have been made partakers of the divine nature. These words should make our ears tinkle. God has made us partake or share in His divine nature. This truth is at the heart of our calling to partake in the glory of God. In fact in the verse before our main verse above, Peter said
“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3, KJV)
The Lord has called us to His glory and splendor. What does it mean for us to live in the glory of God? The life of glory is essentially the experience and expression of the divine nature. God has brought us into Himself, meaning to share in His nature. From a practical perspective, that means we will think, feel, talk, etc as God does! We will share in His experience by intimate fellowship. That is the experience of God. Furthermore, we will become visible expressions of the invisible divine nature. He will be shining forth like light in us. The light simply means the divine attributes, such as love, wisdom and power, will be manifested in and through us.
The life of the glory of God is partaking in the divine nature, experiencing and expression God! What a life that is! It starts here and now but will only become complete when Jesus returns, and we receive the spiritual body. Hallelujah!
MEDITATE
What is our calling into the glory as described above? What does that mean to you here and now? Have you experienced the glory? Have you expressed the glory?
APPLY THE WORD
God’s ultimate purpose for your life is to make you a visible expression of His invisible nature. You are called to show the world the wisdom, power, and character of God not just by preaching to them but by your day to day life. Live in the glory!
