“But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding” (Job 32:8 KJV).

God made man a spirit being that lives in the body. Humanity’s greatest ignorance is the ignorance of our spirit. We have accumulated so much knowledge about the mind and body but almost completely ignore the spirit inside of us. That spirit is the source and the center that determines what happens in the mind and body, and ultimately what happens in our world.

This truth takes on greater significance to the believer in Christ, because all that God has done and continues to do is through the spirit inside of us. It is imperative for us to understand the operation of our spirit and how to use it for our advantage. The more the realm of the spirit becomes real to us, the more we will change our words and actions. If you fully understand that there is a spirit inside of you, then you will run way from bitterness, for example, because it is like poison inside of your spirit and will ruin your life. You will not make casual statements like “you are killing me” or “this child will kill me,” because words trigger activity in the realm of the spirit. You are a spirit being, and your outward life, whether you know it or not, is determined by your spirit (Prov. 4:23).
