Three Powerful Truths to Build Fellowship with God
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14, KJV)
God created man in His image to fellowship with Him. This purpose is revealed in Genesis 3 when God comes to the Garden in the cool of the evening to talk with Adam. Although sin broke this fellowship, Jesus restored it. Let us explore three powerful truths to help you grow in your fellowship with God.
First, true fellowship with God begins in our hearts. Just as the Garden was the center of communion for Adam, our hearts have become the dwelling place of God. We can practically sense His presence, interact with Him, and communicate with Him in our hearts. Our hearts encompass our thoughts, emotions, and will. Learn to commune with God in your heart (Psalms 4:4; 19:14).
Second, since God is Spirit, He communes with our spirit to Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the very presence of God, with whom we fellowship in our hearts and daily lives. To deepen your fellowship with God, cultivate a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Third, fellowship with God extends beyond prayer alone. While prayer is a vital means of communion with God, there is an aspect of fellowship that many believers overlook. It is the practice of fellowshipping with God continuously, embracing His presence in every moment and every place. You can learn to be aware of God’s presence and constantly communicate with Him—whether on the train, at work, at home, or even in the shopping mall. This 24/7 practical fellowship is a treasure, although, like regular prayer, it requires intentional cultivation.
Apply these truths in your life, and experience a healthy and vibrant relationship with the Lord through fellowship.
Meditate
Ponder upon 2 Corinthians 13:14 in light of the devotional above. Do you need to see God physically to commune or fellowship with Him today?
Apply the Word
While God dwells in all Christians, not all Christians live practically in fellowship with His presence. Seek to grow in your fellowship with God.
Pray
Ask the Spirit of the Lord to help you cultivate a deeper fellowship with Him.
