The prayer of the upright is His delight
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. (Proverbs 15:8 KJV)
The prayer of the upright is the delight of the LORD. Think about the meaning and implications of this statement for a second. The LORD delights in the prayers of His people. He did not specify any particular kind of prayer. The meaning is straightforward: the LORD delights in the prayer of His people. That means every single time you pray, the very act of prayer is a delight to the Father.
I did mention in previous devotionals on prayer that there is a mystery about a human being in the prayer mode that we might not fully understand on this side of eternity. Something happens within us when our minds switch into the consciousness of talking with God in the fellowship of prayer. This will help you understand why the greatest dimension of prayer is the dimension where our prayers are as incense being offered before God as the Psalmist said:
“Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” (Psalm 141:2 KJV)
Let this truth be engrained in your consciousness that every single moment you spend in prayer, the LORD delights in fellowshipping with you just as a father delights being with his children.
MEDITATE
What should your attitude be towards prayer, knowing that the LORD delights in every moment you spend in prayer?
APPLY THE WORD
Our perception of God’s perspective about us is critical. If we know He delights in our prayers and truly believe it, prayer will take a different turn in our lives. This is a mindset that needs to be built and groomed. Know the Father delights in your time of prayer, and let a fresh zeal for prayer fill your heart.
PRAY
Thank the Father for delighting in us.
