The Lord is not in the Same Class as the Angels
For thus saith the high and lofty One That inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, With him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones (Isaiah 57:15, KJV)
It is very easy for us to consider God to be in the same class as the angels; after all, they are all spirits. The scripture tells us God is spirit, and that the angels are also spirits, but that does not mean they are of the same class. One truth that is often difficult for us to really bring home, even though we know it, is that heaven and the angels were created. Think about that. The scripture says, things visible( our physical universe) and invisible ( the spiritual world) were all created by the Father through His Word( Jesus!) ( Col. 1:16). The Creator is not on the same plane with His creation.
Let me illustrate this fact with a mystery revealed to us in the verse above. Heaven, as noted, God’s dwelling place, was created. Just as God created the earth, and has now come to dwell in it, so was heaven created! Where was God before He created heaven? He has a dwelling place that is higher than heaven and is His eternal dwelling home before creation. The scripture above says He inhabits eternity! Therefore the Lord had to step down from His eternal dwelling place to start living in heaven. He has taken another step down from heaven to start living on the earth!! How great is our God!
MEDITATE
Are all spirits equal? Certainly not! They are all spirits because they exist in that realm but they are not of the same class!
APPLY THE WORD
Ponder for a few minutes about the greatness of our God. He has taken a step down into heaven to dwell there. He has again stepped down to the earth to live amongst us! What a marvelous God we have. It is well with us, today, tomorrow and for all eternity, as our Father has come to be with us!!
PRAY
Bless the Lord for the wonder and awesomeness of Who He is.
