The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. (Deut. 28:12 NKJ)
Rain was crucial for the survival of the nations in those days in the land of Palestine, because it determined whether they would suffer from famine or flourish from abundance. Open heavens represented rain. When the rain fell, the crops flourished, matured, and produced an abundant harvest.
Spiritually, an open heaven represents the outpouring of the blessing of God over our lives and the works of our hands seen above. God was not referring to natural rain, but to the showers of blessings that will cause the people to flourish. Open heavens means we are living under the blessing of God while a closed heaven means living without the blessing of God which results in spiritual famine, struggle, toil and desperation.
Jesus has opened the heavens perpetually over His Church. The heavens already opened up and Jesus, the Living Word of God, came forth. The Holy Spirit was then poured out upon the Church. The good treasure of open heavens is already here and has visited us already.
The blessing of God is His Word that triggers the move of His Spirit. The church is presently living under open heavens. God has already blessed us in Christ (Eph 1:3.) The Living Word already visited the earth and He sent the River of His Spirit. It is time for the earth to flourish and grow extravagantly to fruitfulness. There is no waiting for any other blessing from heaven. You are living under an open heaven, so enjoy the rain!
Did you notice the word “land” in the verse above? Most of you are not farmers, so how does the term “land” apply to you?
