I have Made thee a Father of Many Nations
As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were (Rom. 4:17 KJV)
Romans 4:17 above teaches us a crucial principle of faith. Faith begins with believing as its foundation. It does not end there, but it is rooted in the principle of believing or trusting in God. This is seen in the promise God made to Abraham when He called him out and gave him the promise of many children when Abraham and his wife Sarah were barren and very old.Â
As far as God was concerned, He made Abraham a father of many nations the day that He said those words to him and gave him the promise of having many children. This is key to understand. God gave Abraham the children He promised not on the day the children were born, but the day the promise came out of His mouth. These are spiritual realities and can really only make sense in the Spirit.
The second foundational principle follows suit. When did Abraham become the father of many nations? You might think it is the day the promised child Isaac was born, right? No! It was the day he believed the Word God had given him. You see, in the spirit, the day you believe the Word of God, you receive whatever God is talking about to you. Faith begins on this foundation that His word already gave to you and by believing, you have already received. Everything that follows is geared towards putting to work and manifesting what you have received. Our inability to see spiritually that we receive from God makes us continue to cry to God to give us the same thing over and over. Let this revelation take a deep root in your spirit.
MEDITATE
How does God give us His blessings or the things we ask Him from the devotional above?
APPLY THE WORD
A big problem we have amongst us today is that many people say or even think when they have believed whereas it is not real believing at all. They are still in the operations of the mind and think they are in faith. These things are spiritual, and we must connect with God spiritually. The Word is the medication that makes man’s heart believe. Take an abundance of it until faith jumps out spontaneously from your heart!
PRAY
Ask the Spirit to help you lay a solid foundation of your faith in the Word.Â
