Heavenly men living on earth

“The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly” (1 Cor. 15:47-48 NAS).

The believer lives in heaven and works on earth! The first man, Adam, is said to be of the earth. The second Adam, who is Jesus, came from heaven. The scripture above says, “and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly.” We are born in the image of God through the work of Jesus Christ, and we bear His image of the heavenly man.

We have been recreated by God, fashioned from heavenly material. And our new man, the spirit man that is born again, lives in the heavenly places with Christ Jesus. We live in heaven, in the very presence of God. This might appear confusing unless we grasp the reality that man is really a spirit, and spiritual things do not work like physical things. Our spirits are currently in the heavenly places while our bodies are on earth, where we function. It is like someone who works in one city and lives in another. We live in heaven and work on earth! Our lives are therefore not controlled by the laws of the earth, but of heaven where we dwell!

MEDITATE

Why does God describe us as heavenly? See John 3:6.

APPLY THE WORD

The Word above essentially means that you are different. Your life is not supposed to be controlled by the elements and laws of the earth, but by those of heaven. If you encounter a situation today, do not talk or act the way people around you do. Respond the way those who live in heaven would!

PRAY

Thank God for this truth revealed to you today. Ask Him for the wisdom to fully comprehend and apply it.
