Giving Thanks Unto the Father
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light (Col. 1:12 KJV)
God’s will is for us to be thankful to Him at all times. Col. 1:12 above gives us one reason why we should always give thanks to the Lord— He has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the stains in light.
As you learn to attend to God’s presence within you, the critical importance of thanksgiving, praise and worship all wrapped in a package of prayer will soon become evident to you.
There are different levels of thanksgiving we will go through. The first and most basic level is when we have to think of a time, maybe during our prayer time or even a worship service to thank God. All of us begin here. At this level, thanksgiving is something we do at a certain time or in response to something specific that the Lord has done. This is wonderful, but it is the beginner stages.
The highest level of thanksgiving, in fact, which is the Lord’s desire, is thanksgiving that has become part of your minute by minute lifestyle. You move to a different level where your heart inside has become an altar of perpetual thanksgiving. I cannot count the number of times I just say “thank you Lord” in my heart in a day. It has become part of the me.No body needs to hear it. My heart has been trained to be a communion table with the Lord( Ps. 19:14). This is the Lord’s desire for all of us. You no longer have to set a time or place. Thanksgiving should be your spiritual routine, 24/7.
You will be amazed at the what the habit of a thankful heart will do for your practical experience of God’s presence. You will enjoy His presence at all times, whether in a room of prayer or not because you are indeed in Him and He is in you at every instance!
MEDITATE
Should we wait to have the miracle we are looking for before thanking the Lord? Do we already have enough reasons in salvation to praise the Lord even if no miracle occurs to meet the need we have?
APPLY THE WORD
Thanksgiving will have a great impact on your fellowship with God through His Spirit. Train yourself to live perpetually in thanksgiving.
PRAY
Thank the Lord right now for the blessing of His Word and for the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
