How to glorify God in your life today
“By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. (Jn. 15:8 NAS)
We all want to glorify God, but how do we give God the glory? There are at least two major ways we can glorify God in our lives. Whenever we offer praise, worship, and thanksgiving to God, we are glorifying His name. Therefore, the words of our mouth are powerful instruments to bring glory to the name of God.
But there is another agency by which we give glory to God, which is at least as important, if not, more important than speaking. This is noted in the scripture above “by this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit”. Your very life is the greatest instrument to bring glory to God’s name. As you bear fruit, by displaying His love, joy, patience, kindness, righteousness, and holiness, others will see God in your life, and lift up their voices to give Him glory. Jesus said it this way “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matt. 5:16). Do you want to glorify God in your life? Let your light shine before others. Let them see Christ in you, and give praise to God for such a man or woman like you.
MEDITATE
Taking God’s word into your spirit is the most important step in Bible study or devotional, otherwise you are involved in a purely mechanical, religious exercise. Meditating upon scripture is key. Take a moment and just ponder upon the scripture above again and again. Then begin to mutter those out from your mouth. This is what meditation is.
PRAY
Sincerely ask the Lord to use both your mouth and your life for His glory today.
ACT NOW!
Do you want to glorify God? Then let your light shine. Bear spiritual fruit. Do not say “I glorify You Lord” in a moment of worship, and then allow profanity come out of your mouth the next minute. Your life is God’s greatest instrument for glory. Be intentional today. Act on God’s Word. Rather than bitterness, choose joy. Rather than sin, choose holiness and righteousness. Rather than stinginess, choose love and kindness. Glorify God today!
