And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years (Genesis 1:14, KJV)
Heavenly lights govern the seasons on the earth. That means the lights in the heavens-sun, moon and stars, control the seasonal states on the face of the earth. This is an incredibly profound spiritual truth for us to grasp. The Lord is showing us right in creation how He has established the heavens to rule over the earth. What does that mean to you?
Our lives are like the earth. We can experience winter, spring, summer, and fall. Your spiritual life, for example, can experience a season of winter where you are dry, empty, unfruitful, almost spiritually dead, etc. Spring represents a season of recovery when the first signs of life begin to re-appear. Maybe your prayer life starts booming again. The power and presence of God start manifesting again in your life. This is a season of spring. The same is true about your finances, health, relationships, etc. Some of you reading this devotional are in financial winter, while others are in spring and yet others might be in the best of summer!
Gen. 1:14 above shows us that heavenly lights determine the seasons of our lives. The light is the revelation of the Word that you have and are currently living by. You can set yourself up to forever live in summer by living under an abundance of heavenly light( the Word) in every part of your life!
What parts of your life are in winter right now? Are they others which might be in the recovery of spring or even the glory of summer?
APPLY THE WORD
The amount of light you walk in determines the seasons of your life. I pray you fully understand this truth. Your current health status, financial standing, spiritual position, etc are determined by the amount of light( the Word) you have in that area. Heavenly lights control the seasons of your life. Crave the Word. Increase the Light in your life.
Ask the Lord to help you take full advantage of the light of His Word.
